Your First Reading

You're ready. Let's do a simple three-card reading — the most beginner-friendly spread in tarot.

The Three-Card Spread

Shuffle your deck while thinking of a situation you want insight on. Draw three cards and lay them left to right.

  • Card 1 (Left) — The past. What has led to this situation.
  • Card 2 (Middle) — The present. Where you are right now.
  • Card 3 (Right) — The future/advice. Where this is heading, or what action to take.

How to Interpret

Don't memorize meanings yet. Look at each card and ask yourself:

  • What is the first thing I notice?
  • What is the mood or feeling of this card?
  • How does it relate to my question?

Then look up the card's traditional meaning and see how it connects to your intuitive impression. Over time, these two sources of insight merge.

Journaling Your Reading

Write down the cards you drew, your question, and your interpretation. Reading your past entries is one of the most powerful ways to develop your tarot skills.

Every reading you do teaches you more than any book. Start now, even if you feel unprepared.
