Why Numbers Matter in Tarot

Every tarot card has a number — and that number is not random. Numbers carry consistent energy across all suits and even across the Major Arcana. Once you understand numerical energy, you have a second system for interpreting any card, even one you've never studied.

The Major Arcana are numbered 0–21. Reduce any number above 9 and you find its root vibration. Card 18 (The Moon) = 1+8 = 9 = near-completion, culmination — and indeed The Moon represents the final dark night before dawn.
