Developing Your Card Vocabulary

Rather than memorizing definitions, develop a personal relationship with each card. Here's how:

The "Story" Method

For each card, write a three-sentence story from the perspective of the person depicted. What happened before this scene? What are they feeling right now? What do they do next?

The "One Word" Method

Assign each card one word that captures its essence for you. Not from a book — from your gut. Your one word for the Five of Pentacles might be "struggle." Someone else's might be "resilience." Both are valid.

The "Dialogue" Method

Sit with a card and imagine it can speak. What would it say to you right now? This sounds strange but produces surprisingly accurate insights.
